Sport's stakeholders meet for EU Sport Forum
The EU Sport Forum will gather more than 300 stakeholders in sport for dialogue on European sport. Play the Game will be on a panel discussing good governance in sport.
On 9-10 March, the EU opens its doors for its annual EU Sport Forum, a key part of the institution’s dialogue with sport’s stakeholders including European and international sports organisations, policy makers and NGOs.
The event is organised by the Dutch EU Presidency and the European Commission, and more than 300 representatives from the sports movement will be present to discuss subjects relevant to sport.
The event will last for two days and is organised into six different sessions each addressing a theme relevant to European sport. The session themes include results of some of the initiatives already taken by the EU through the 2013 Preparatory Actions in the field of sport, the European Week of Sport, grassroots sport, integration through sports and the digital single market and its impact on sport.
Good governance in sport is also given high priority at the Forum with a plenary session dedicated to this topic.
Play the Game has been invited to sit on a high level panel featuring the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Tibor Navracsics, Edith Schippers, Dutch Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport, Patrick Hickey, President of the European Olympic Committee, Michael van Praag, president of the Dutch FA and Play the Game’s international director, Jens Sejer Andersen.
The EU Sport Forum will take place in The Hague, The Netherlands and there will be a live stream from the forum available through the forum website.
