A resolution encouraging closer co-operation between states and stakeholders in the fight against match fixing was adopted by ministers at the 18th Council of Europe informal Conference of Ministers responsible for sport held on 22 September in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The resolution comes with an appendix outlining guidelines on how to combat manipulation of sports results.

Delegates at the conference discussed good practices and ways to defend and reinforce the integrity of sport and invited the Council of Europe to prepare a recommendation on these issues to member states.

The conference designated Spanish State Secretary of Sport, Jaime Lissavetzky as representative of the European Public Authorities on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Executive Committee for the period 2011 – 2012. A position he has held since 2009.
