Play the Game called to testify at public hearing in European Parliament

Christmas may be nearing in Europe, but no gifts to sport should be expected when the European Parliament makes its contribution to the growing political interest in ensuring more transparency and accountability in world sport. Over the past years, European parliamentarians have been among the most active in voicing concern over the scandals emanating from international sport, and now the Committee of Culture and Education stages a public hearing on “Financial fair play and the fight against corruption in sport”.
To introduce the issues there will be short speeches by Julien Zylberstein, Legal Adviser at UEFA, Nick Garlick, Senior Specialist at Europol, professor Jürgen Mittag, Head of the Institute of European Sport Development & Leisure Studies at the German Sport University Cologne, and by Jens Sejer Andersen, International Director of Play the Game & Danish Institute for Sports Studies.
The hearing takes place next Tuesday the 18 December from 15-18.30 at the European Parliament in Bruxelles and can be followed live on the Internet.
