International conference on doping in sport and society

The International Network of Doping Research will host a conference on doping in sport and society in Aarhus on 24-25 August, 2017.

The International Network of Doping Research (INDR) will host its annual conference on 24-25 August, 2017 at Aarhus University, Denmark. The conference theme is “Doping in sport, doping in society – lessons, themes, and connections” and will thematise how doping is more than just a matter for elite sport.

Performance-enhancing substance use and practices seems to be running through many of society’s branches – from local fitness cultures to the desire to be “better than great” at the elite level. At the same time, the moral, legal, and health concerns raised by humans employing enhancements exist in society as well as elite sport.

The aim of the conference is to approach these issues by creating a dialogue between scholars, organisational representatives and journalists,  INDR writes.

The following experts are giving keynote addresses at the conference:

  • Professor John Hoberman, University of Texas
  • Professor Sigmund Loland, The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences
  • Professor Bengt Kayser, University of Lausanne, Switzerland
  • Dr. Jason Mazanov, independent researcher, Editor in Chief of Performance Enhancement & Health, Australia
