FIFA Ethics Committee member resigns in corruption protest

German law-expert Guenter Hirsch has resigned from his seat in the FIFA Ethics Committee citing FIFA's lack of efforts in wanting to deal with internal corruption allegations.

According to DPA, Hirsch's resignation came in a letter adressed to Claudio Sulser, chairman of the Ethics Committee and read:

“The events of the past few weeks have raised and strengthened the impression that responsible persons in FIFA have no real interest in playing an active role in resolving, punishing and avoiding violations against ethic regulations of FIFA.”

Hirsch, former president of Germany's Federal Court of Justice was the only German of the 14 members of FIFA's Ethics Committee and his resignation comes with immediate effect.
