About Cali

Cali, Colombia’s third-largest city, is widely known as one of the country’s leading sports hubs and has hosted numerous events over the years.

Often referred to as Colombia’s sports capital, the city is equally famous for its vibrant cultural life – particularly its world-renowned salsa scene and strong Afro-Pacific heritage. Together, sport and culture give Cali a unique identity that reflects the diversity and energy of the wider region.

Cali is also home to 561 species of birds - the greatest variety of birds in the world - as well as a vast mosaic of ecosystems ranging from lush tropical forests to mystical wastelands and a thousand species of trees, orchids, and bromeliads. Globally, Cali is also know as the ‘Capital of Salsa’, because of the city's caracteristic street parties and dancing.
