Peter Lorentzen is a PhD student and journalism tutor at Deakin University in Geelong, Australia.
His research is centred on rural and regional sports journalism, its importance to local newspapers and its role in local communities.
He worked as one of the Australian partners on the International Sports Press Survey 2011.
Currently, he is preparing scholarly articles on sex scandals in Australian sport and on Melbourne media’s dependence on and defence of Australian Rules Football.
Before entering academia he worked from 1999 – 2004 as a sports journalist at the regional daily Danish newspaper of Frederiksborg Amts Avis and from 2005 – 2010 as a freelance journalist in Australia. He has also worked as a media advisor for a state MP in the state of Victoria. |
