CV
President of the League of Women’s International Right (founded by Simone de Beauvoir), member of the French Coordination for the European Women’s Lobby and of Femix’Sport.
She opened the first shelter for battered women in 1978 in France. She then focused her action on violence against girls from African immigrant families (honour crimes, forced marriages, genital mutilation).
Since 1992, she has been leading a new combat in the field of sports, denouncing the wide-spread gender discrimination as well as the sexual apartheid practiced in some Islamic countries.
Her professional background is that of a nuclear physicist. She also obtained a private pilot’s licence. Ms. Sugier has contributed to several collective works on women’s rights and in 2012 will publish a book on the LDIF struggle for equality in the Olympics. She is an Officer of the Legion of Honour. |
