LSA 2010 Diversity and Equality in Leisure, Sport and Tourism

The conference is intended for researchers, policymakers and professionals with an interest in matters of equality. As societies across the globe become characterised by greater diversity, and with growing interest in narrative in hybridity, increasing recognition is being given to the opportunities and threats presented by diversity. Presenters are invited to disseminate findings from research examining the (potential) role of leisure, sport and tourism in promoting and constraining equality.

The ECSS Annual Congress is organised by the European College of Sports Science.

The purpose of the College is the promotion of Sport Science at the European level. Sport means all forms of human movement which aims at expressing or improving physical fitness or mental well-being, forming or ameliorating social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels.

It shall advise European institutions as the EU and the Council of Europe on research problems and new research results available in the field of Sport Science.

"The ICPESS 2010 is significant in that it will commemorate 60 years of teacher education in Singapore and it will be the antecedent PE and Sports Science conference to the Inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games to be hosted by Singapore from 14 August 2010. The theme of the conference is Youth in Physical Education and Sport.

Conference on Centers and Peripheries in Sport

The Department of Sport Sciences at Malmö University is organizing this conference, focusing on inequalities in the development of sport. There are two parts. The first, commencing on the 8th of April, acknowledges the inconsistencies in association football between centers and peripheries in the European context. On Saturday the 10th a particular focus on women’s football will mark the end of the first part and the opening of the second part, which concentrates on the development of women’s sports, with an emphasis on equality and differences.
