This is a special issue of the Play the Game newsletter which brings you news from the trial against president Ruben Acosta of the FIVB, former FIVB secretary general Jean-Pierre Seppey and a former FIVB controller Franz Schmied. The trial opened in Lausanne yesterday and continues today.

 

 

1) FIVB heavyweights point fingers at controller

 

FIVB President Ruben Acosta and former FIVB secretary general Jean-Pierre Seppey denied any responsibility for the manipulation of the 2000 annual report for the International Volleyball Federation on the first day of the Volleygate case in Lausanne. Instead they tried to place the responsibility with the controller.

2) Former finance secretary feels hoodwinked by Acosta

 

A Swedish former secretary of the FIVB finance committee has told a Swedish newspaper how he feels hoodwinked by Acosta. Despite firsthand knowledge of the annual report and the auditor’s report, he was not allowed to give evidence at the Volleygate trial.
