1) Ex-Secretary General spills the beans on FIVB

The Volleygate affair has taken a new and surprising turn. The former Secretary General of the International Volleyball Federation, Jean-Pierre Seppey, has launched a head-on attack on his former employers with the publication of a 22 page document which details mismanagement and abuse of authority at FIVB.

2) Swedish volleyball leader excluded after mild criticism of Acosta

Gloves are off in Sweden too. Lasse Svensson, a Swedish volleyball leaders of 30 years standing, has decided to tell how the FIVB excluded him from all international and national duties four years ago after he expressed mild criticism of Ruben Acosta in a private letter.

4) Call for papers on Media and Sport

The Media and Sport Section invites submissions for its programme at the conference of the Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). All papers from the full range of perspectives on the study of Media and Sport will be considered.

The conference takes place in Cairo (23-28 July, 2006).

5) International Children's Day of Broadcasting focuses on sport and development

Sunday 11 December is UNICEF's International Children's Day of Broadcasting. More than 2000 broadcasters from all corners of the world have signed up to take part in this years events which will focus on the power of sport as a tool for development and peace. The event has support from UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, David Beckham.
