Good Governance reporting course

A course offered by TrustMedia seeks to educate journalists on how to combat corruption by teaching them tools to identify, report on, and raise awareness about corruption.

A course called ‘Good Governance Reporting’, taking place in London in December, promises to assist journalists in combating corruption in all forms and plan to do this by defining and describing different kinds of corruption as well as giving advices on how to read financial documents such as government budgets and corporate accounts. The course also seeks to improve/opfordre an objective ethical approach to investigations along with raising critical thinking with the journalists.

A part form this, the course aims at giving practical advice on how investigative journalism techniques can be used to uncover corruption and also promises to look into the legal repercussions that may be involved in uncovering corruption.

Both full and partial bursaries of the participant’s fee are available to applicants from the developing world/countries in political transition working for organisations with no resources for training.

‘Good Governance Reporting’ will take place in London 12-16 December 2011 and the application deadline is 1 September 2011. The course is offered by TrustMedia a training service under the Thompson Reuters Foundation.
