Convicted South Korean to be reinstated as a member of the IOC

The International Olympic Commission's Executive Commission has followed the advice of its Ethics Commission and agreed to suspend rather than expell the South Korean Lee Kun-Hee, former Chairman of Samsung.

In July 2008 Lee was found guilty in financial miscunduct and was fined the largest amount

in South Korean history, $39 mio dollars.

According to Inside the Games, the IOC Ethics Commision found Lee to have "tarnished the reputation of the Olympic Movement" and judged his acts as "ethically reprehensible".

Lee will be reinstated in five years, in time to lead the South Korean Bid coming from the city of Pyeongchang.
