Profile
After a first degree in Economics at the University of Freiburg (Switzerland), Rolf went on to do an MA at the University of Manchester, UK and a PhD in Sociology at the Russian Academy of Science. During his studies in Russia he also worked as a consultant for the World Bank, the Russian Federation’s Chamber of Commerce and for F. Hoffmann-La Roche. He also lectured in “Decision Making” at various universities in Moscow and published a bulletin on the economic and social situation in Russia.
From 1997 to 1999 Rolf was marketing manager for F. Hoffmann-La Roche in Moscow. On his return to Switzerland he joined the Swiss Academy for Development (SAD), a non-governmental organisation based in Biel/Bienne operating in the field of applied social research, which he headed from 2001 to 2006.
In addition to having gained considerable work and life experience in Eastern Europe, Rolf is a pioneer in the field of Sport and Development. He founded a centre for Sport and Development within the SAD, has published various academic papers on this subject and has carried out project monitoring and evaluations. |
