Research area:
Started the scientific research investigating the regulation of genes in yeast, but have since 1997 worked with gene regulation in human exercising muscles seeking to understand the basic mechanism behind the exercise-related changes in the activity of muscle genes.
Education/employment:
1993 Master of Science in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the Institute of Genetics, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
1994 Visiting researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Henry Baker at the University of Florida, USA.
1997 Ph.D. in Transcription Regulation at the Institute of Molecular Biology, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. From 1997 Head of the Molecular Muscle Biology Department at the Copenhagen Muscle Research Centre, Denmark.
Gene doping
Frequently interviewed on national and international media about gene doping, have been consultant on the gene doping issue for a governmental report on doping, have given several talks about gene doping and co-author of an article concerning the gene doping issue in Scientific American (Sep. 2000). |
