Maja Pilgaard is MSc. of Sport and Health at Southern University. She was employed at Danish Institute for Sports Studies to analyze and report results from the major sporting habit study 'population for exercise and sports habits in 2007'. 
 
After the release of this report, Maja Pilgaard received a doctoral fellow at the Institute of Sports and Biomechanics at the University of Southern Denmark in collaboration with Danish Institute for Sports Studies. Her dissertation 'The flexible sport participation in contemporary everyday life - an everyday sociological analysis of idrætsdeltagelsens development, variety and character in Denmark' commenced in February 2009. 
 
In November 2009 Maja Pilgaard and Danish Institute for Sports Studies 
released the book "Sport and exercise in the Danish daily ', which follows up and expands on findings from' The Danish exercise and sport habits in 2007 '. 
 
Maja Pilgaard has previously worked on quantitative studies - for DGI, among others, where she analyzed data from the DGI / DIF 's Association survey in 2004. 
 
Most recently, Maia Pilgaard been employed in a sports organisation in Germany, where she has worked with preventive training planning and rehabilitation and conducted a quantitative satisfaction survey in a fitness center. She has also for many years been active volleyball and beach volleyball player at the elite level. In 2009 she won silver in eliteidivisonen with Fortuna Odense.
