Debbie Simms is Manager of the Sport Ethics Unit at the Australian Sports Commission. She has been instrumental in providing advice and developing tools to assist the sporting industry reduce and effectively deal with inappropriate behaviour on and off the field and to proactively address a range of ethical issues so that the integrity of Australian sport is retained.
In 2006 she was one of 15 leading experts from around the world invited to help the International Olympic Committee write a consensus statement on sexual harassment and abuse. She is on a panel of experts assisting the UNICEF look at the issue of violence against children in a sporting context.
Ms Simms has held administrative positions at the club, state and national level of sport and was a representative squash player, referee and coach. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Administration and Coaching and is an active Scout Leader. |
