Daniel Beck, born in 1972, started his career as a journalist for a local newspaper in his home town Thun (Switzerland).
He studied history, political science and media science at the University of Bern and obtained his PhD degree at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) in 2005.
His PhD thesis deals with the development of the sports sections in daily Swiss newspapers between 1948 and 2001. Since 2005, he works as a senior teaching and research assistant at the Department of Mass Media and Communication Research of the University of Fribourg. His research interests include various aspects of the relationship between sports and media, especially content analyses of sports coverage, but also other topics such as journalism studies and media history. |
