The conference was opened by The Reverend Canon Adrian Daffern, with music from Tammy James and Megan Daffern.

Professor Madeleine Atkins, Vice-Challencor of Coventry University, welcomed participants to Coventry University.

Jim Johnston, Business Manager for Advantage West Midlands, welcomed participants to the West Midlands and introduced the region's rich sporting heritage.

And Jens Sejer Andersen, Director of Play the Game, welcomed participants to the conference.
