Kim Schimmel Kimberly S. Schimmel, PhD is an Associate Professor of the Sociology of Sport in the School of Exercise, Leisure, and Sport at Kent State University in the USA where she teaches courses on sport and society from both domestic and global perspectives.

 

She has published many articles and book chapters on sport mega-events and local/global urban development, the political economy of sport, and sport and urban politics.  

 

Schimmel is the co-editor of The Political Economy of Sport (2005, with John Nauright), which is included in Palgrave's International Political Economy Series.  

 

She is a member of the editorial board for the International Review for the Sociology of Sport and has been elected to serve as a Vice President of the International Sociology of Sport Association for the term 2008-2011.
