Michal Buchel is the CEO of the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS) since 2013 and a manager with solid experience in the organization of international sporting events - both in summer and winter sports. He leads the delivery of services to the national SAMBO federations and handles the liaison with stakeholders of the Olympic Movement to guarantee the recognition and development of SAMBO worldwide. Michal is also a council member of AIMS and the vice-chair of the consultative committee of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS), in both representing FIAS.

He has completed a Master of Political Sciences and International Relations during his professional ice-hockey athlete career.

From 2005 to 2011, the manager worked for FISU (International University Sports Federation) in Brussels in the preparation, operation and delivery of the games sports programme, including venue planning, coordination of the venue inspection visits and optimisation of the event logistics for the Summer and Winter Universiade. 

From 2011 to 2013, Michal joined SportAccord as the multi-sports games unit manager and consultant, while in charge of coordinating the organisation of the multi-sport events, managing the knowledge transfer to future event organisers and the preparation of bidding documents for SportAccord.

As an independent consultant, he also provides expertise in games coordination and event operational planning, having assisted organizing committees of the Summer Universiade 2013 Kazan, EYOF Tbilisi 2015 and others.
