Stephen Farrand has been reporting on professional cycling since 1994. Based in Tuscany, he has worked for Reuters, Cycling Weekly, Cyclingnews and a number of other major publications, covering all the major races and events including the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France and numerous world championships.
A spell at the Shift Active Media agency as Editorial Director gave him better insight into the business world of the cycling industry and helped him report the politics and precarious economic structure of professional cycling.
In 2013 he edited the Cyclingnews Sponsorship Report that quantified the value of commercial investment in the sport thanks to data from Repucom. He is an active member of the International Association of Cycling Journalists, with responsibility for relations with the major teams in the sport.
