Tim Walters has a PhD in English and Cultural Studies from McMaster University, and works as an English Professor at Okanagan College in British Columbia, Canada, where he uses the theories of Slovenian Marxist Philosopher Slavoj Žižek to analyze the political economy of football. His essays appear in Football and Communities Across Codes (Manchester Metropolitan University, 2013) and Zizek and Media Studies: A Reader (Palgrave MacMillan, 2014). He is the author of a forthcoming book-length study of the ideological function of the commanding heights of late-capitalist football (the English Premier League, UEFA Champion’s League, and FIFA World Cup) from a Žižekian perspective.
