From October 2001 until October 2006, Dr Markus Kurscheidt (MSc & PhD Economics) was a Lecturer and, now, is a Senior Lecturer of Sport Management with the School of Sport Science, Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. As an Assistant Coordinator, he helped launch and develop the Sport Management program in which he teaches and/or organizes a wide range of courses. Before, he worked as a Junior Lecturer with the School of Economic Sciences, University of Paderborn, Germany.
His focuses of research are managerial, public and political economics applied to the sports industry on which he presented refereed papers and gave numerous invited talks in Europe, Asia, and North America and published internationally. Work in progress deals with public and political economics of sports, regional team sports markets, and primary consumption of tourists at major sporting events.
Among others, he is an assistant to the board of the association of German-speaking sports economists (AK Sportökonomie), founding member and member of the board of directors of the International Association of Sports Economists (IASE).
